Animals Welfare
We have taken the strategic decision, that we only use leather from animals raised for the purpose of human food. We primarly use sources like cow, lamb, sheep, goat and pigs.
Our policy is that we do not support or acknowledge any raising of predator in caves example given fox, mink and other related species. We are of the opinoin, that herbivores in general can be raised and used as source for fur as long as the facilities, transportation and killing is made in the must optimised way for the benefit of the animals natural behaviour and needs.
As a part of our responsible programme we fight to get clear documentation from our tanneries, so that we can trace the origin of the leather. Today we get still better information, but it is a very hard challenge to get the clear picture, as the traceability is still not transparent. In general we are using hides from farmers from Asia and Africa, but hides exported from Europe is also used.
We have in our Auluna Code of Conduct (c) recommended that the EU recommendations should be followed and recommend that our suppliers and tanneries buy hides based on animals, which have been treated in a fair and respectfull way. These guidelines have been described in more details by Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty of Animals (RSPCA). Download the guideline
In our Auluna Code of Conduct (c) we clearly state that we do not buy or support use of hides and leathers of any protected animals listed by the red list of IUCN (the International Union for Conservation of Nature). Read more www.iucnredlist.org or www.iucn.org.
In Auluna collection we can use down and feather in some style. We always get the garantee, that down and feather is from dead birds. We do not in any cercumstances allow down and feather, which has been plucked from living birds.
